Trophy hunting in New Zealand
Do you enjoy the thrill of the chase - the excitement of stalking big game animals? New Zealand is renowned as a hunter’s paradise where some of the best prize trophies in the world can be taken.
The majestic Southern Alps of New Zealand hold some of the world's finest big game animals for hunting and trophy hunting. Hunting in New Zealand's Kaikoura, you will experience some of the most stunning scenery. Open rolling to steep hills with native timber and scrub cover to the snow covered peaks of the Seaward Kaikoura Ranges and Southern Alps.
This country was originally a land populated exclusively by birds. Many found their wings were superfluous, given the complete absence of predators and land mammals, hence the evolution of the now extinct giant moa and the iconic flightless kiwi. In the last 200 years, settlers have introduced a multitude of small and large game animals as well as a bevy of waterfowl and upland game birds. These introduced species have thrived.
New Zealand hunt season
The New Zealand hunting season is from March to the end of August. The best time to hunt Red Stag, Wapiti (Elk) and Fallow Deer is during the roar, which is from March through to the end of May. Tahr and Chamois are at their prime from late April until August, however can be hunted all year round.
